Hi, Thanks for your comment. You make some good points. This was pure speculation on my part with regard to any Smith resignation. I do believe that both these cases weigh heavily on Smith and his family. It seems that he was set up to fail by Merrick Garland who dithered for over a year before finally taking action-and then only doing so by appointing a special counsel.

I think many in government and the judicial system are making the calculus that Trump will win in 2024 and instead of being on the right side of history they certainly don't want to be on the wrong side of Trump. That could get you locked up or worse.

The fact is is that our justice system is not built for speed and now speed is of the essence. Trump will run the clock out and with Biden at 34% and third party candidates looming Trump is now the odds on favorite to win.

This cannot be allowed to happen so hopefully we'll see some action on that front soon. I'm talking Lincoln-level, extrajudicial moves to save our democracy and by extension the world.
