My fellow citizens,

I come before you today to announce my resignation as Special Counsel, a decision propelled not by defeat but by a clear-eyed recognition of the systemic barriers and injustices that have thwarted our pursuit of accountability at every turn.

Our mission has been compromised from the start, not by a lack of will or evidence, but by an entrenched judicial system that favors the powerful, the privileged, and the rich. This systemic bias was laid bare by the Department of Justice’s hesitancy, led by Merrick Garland, which has effectively slow-walked our investigations, undermining both our efforts and the public’s trust.

The recent decision by the Supreme Court to delay hearing oral arguments on Trump’s claims of absolute immunity until April 22nd is yet another glaring example of these systemic failures. This delay alone all but ensures that no trial in the District of Columbia will occur before the election, granting an unwarranted advantage to those who seek to manipulate our system for personal gain.

Similarly, the case concerning the mishandling of documents in Florida, embroiled in legal wrangling, is also unlikely to reach trial before the election. This pattern of delay and deflection erodes the foundational principles of our democracy and the rule of law, revealing a judicial system more concerned with procedural technicalities than with delivering swift and fair justice.

In stepping down, I do so to sound an alarm on the injustices that permeate our legal system and to call for an urgent reevaluation of our approach to justice, one that places the pursuit of truth and accountability above the preservation of power and privilege. My resignation is a protest against a system that too often shields the wealthy and powerful from the consequences of their actions, undermining the very essence of equality under the law.

To the dedicated team I leave behind: your resilience in the face of these daunting challenges is commendable. Continue to fight for justice with integrity and determination, for the work you do is vital to the preservation of our democratic ideals.

To the citizens of this nation: remain vigilant and engaged. The fight for justice and accountability is far from over, and it is only through your continued advocacy and demand for change that we can hope to dismantle the barriers that stand in the way of true justice.

Thank you.
